Household Hazardous Waste Disposal

We all have hazardous chemicals in our homes . . . such as:

  • Batteries
  • Oil-based paint
  • Garden chemicals
  • Many household cleaners
  • Used oil and antifreeze
  • Swimming pool chemicals (i.e., chlorine)

When it's time to get rid of them, what should we do?  Below is a list helpful information and useful resources.

Ohio EPA's: A Guide to Safe Management of Household Hazardous Waste provides a great fact sheet that you should print and keep in your home.

US EPA's Household Hazardous Waste provides a comprehensive listing of household hazardous wastes and ways to dispose of them.
